12/30/2023 0 Comments Samsung odyssey g9 vs chg90![]() ![]() By any measure, the Odyssey G9’s brightness is highly respectable.Īlthough the display presets offer a distinguishable amount of variation among them, I rarely found them especially useful. At full-screen, the HDR brightness maxed out at 561 nits. Note, though, that we saw brightness in that range in tests utilizing only a portion of the screen (from about 10 percent to about 50 percent). That’s the only way to obtain the Odyssey G9’s rated peak brightness of 1,000 nits, a number we confirmed in our testing with Portrait Displays’ Calman software. This is well above what we saw with the Razer Raptor 27 (295 nits) and the Acer XFA240 (352 nits), but below the likes of the LG 38GL950G (544 nits) or the ViewSonic Elite XG270QC (524 nits).īrightness improves even further in HDR mode. But all of the default presets (the others are High Bright, FPS, RTS, RPG, AOS, and sRGB) were more than respectable, with the lowest-performing sRGB (102.6 percent of the sRGB color space and 72.7 percent of DCI-P3).Īverage brightness (as measured with the monitor brightness maxed and all dynamic adjustment settings disabled) was upwards of 400 nits in every mode, with the brightest unsurprisingly being High Bright, with 418.6. Samsung advertises 125 percent sRGB coverage for the Odyssey G9, something we only came close to in Cinema mode (with 123.9 percent). Most gaming monitors we’ve looked at do this well or better: The Razer Raptor 27 covers 162% of the sRGB spectrum, the ultrawide LG 38GL950G covers 148.9%, and the ViewSonic Elite XG270QC covers 139%, for example. Using a Klein K10-A colorimeter and Displa圜al calibration software, we measured the Odyssey G9’s delta-E (its variation from an established color norm) at a solid 0.26, and we determined that it covered 113.7 percent of the sRGB color gamut and 80.6 percent of the DCI-P3 gamut on its default settings (Custom mode). The screen fared well in our SDR color tests. This could be changing in 2023 the next generation of the Odyssey G9 Neo, which replaced the original G9, is tipped to be the world's first 8K ultrawide curved monitor. This is more than three times the size of a standard 1080p (1,920x1,080) display, but still smaller overall than a single 4K (3,840x2,160) screen, so you won’t need as beefy a graphics card to max out the details in your games (though, certainly, having the most powerful one you can find never hurts). The Odyssey G9’s unusual shape results in an unusual resolution: 5,120x1,440 (a 32:9 aspect ratio), or the equivalent of two side-by-side 2,560x1,440 monitors. Great brightness and respectable color reproduction. The top-level options include Game-based settings like the refresh rate, black equalizer, adaptive sync support, and so on Picture, for adjusting the brightness, contrast, color presets, and other features PIP/PBP OnScreen Display, for changing the menu’s language and the amount of time it stays up on the screen System, for adjusting the Infinity Core lighting, local dimming, volume, and dynamic contrast and Support, for diagnosing problems, updating the firmware, and resetting everything to the factory defaults. It’s easy to adjust those settings, or any others just move the monitor’s control stick to the right to move one level “down” and press the stick to make your selection. ![]() The button, which doubles as a navigational joystick, provides instant access to power, input, PIP and PBP (picture-in-picture and picture-by-picture) settings, in addition to the main menu itself.Īt the top of the Star Trek–modern menu are five circles that provide at-a-glance information about current key settings: Black Equalizer, Response Time, Refresh Rate, Adaptive-Sync, and Low Input Lag. This takes some getting used to these buttons are typically located on the back panel or in a corner (usually the lower-right one), though its placement closer to the center makes sense given the monitor’s width. You bring up the Odyssey G9’s menu using the joystick located under the monitor’s front edge, about 12 inches from the lower-right corner. Easy to adjust via a joystick under the right front edge. That’s not to say there’s no potential for color: The Infinity Core scheme (controllable from the on-screen menu-see the next section) lets you customize the backlight of the depression where the stand connects to the display so it can emit light in five different styles (Static, or solid Rainbow, switching fluidly between the colors Flash and Double Flash, doing exactly that once or twice in a row or Breathing, a slow increase and decrease in brightness) in any of 52 individual hues. ![]()

12/30/2023 0 Comments Dim sum flushing mall![]() ![]() I went there this past Friday for my brother's graduation lunch. Head outside of skyview and you'll come across dozens of better restaurants. In the end, I left feeling hungry and unsatisfied. It had a flavorful aroma to it, albeit not much chestnut. On a positive note, I enjoyed the chestnut chicken. Even the free jasmine tea had more flavor than the soup. ![]() They were just okay, not worth $19.95 for the measly amount of shrimp given. Portion sizes were quite shallow for it's price too, especially the walnut shrimps. I've had a fair share of chinese fare and though this isn't the worst I've had, it wasn't great either compared to other restaurants outside skyview. At first glance, the menu looked pretty expensive but that's to be expected in flushing and we were hungry so we went ahead and ordered a few things.Īs for the food, it was underwhelming overall. It was our first time here too and didn't feel like venturing outside the mall for food so we settled here. The servers were kind and we were quickly seated down with no wait. I definitely will come back to try some more of other types of dumplings.Ĭame in as a group of 4. The prices for the dumplings were very reasonable at around $7 per plate. So tasty that it didn't really need any dipping sauces. The fried rice was very good but the scallion pancakes were just okay. We ordered lamb dumplings, pork with chives, soup dumplings, the house special fried rice and scallion pancakes. And there was about twenty different types of dumplings. Some of the dishes were on the expensive end for mall food. Once we were seated though it was all good. We stood awkwardly for a few minutes waiting for someone to acknowledge us. It was a little strange that there wasn't anyone by the front desk to welcome people. They have booths along the wall and tables along the front. The decor is cute, the area clean and bright. I want sure exactly what to expect from a restaurant inside a mall. I must say I was quite impressed for my first visit. ![]() 12/30/2023 0 Comments Nyc gifted and talented test![]() ![]() That approach would end the separate classrooms and even entire schools that currently serve students who qualified based on the test - a goal of diversity advocates. But he and others argued it would be an expansion, with “accelerated” learning opportunities available to all students. Programs were also often inaccessible, especially in the city’s low-income neighborhoods where there were no gifted programs because few students took the admissions test or scored high enough to enroll.ĭe Blasio’s plan called for phasing out the city’s current programs, where students are separated into classrooms at about 100 schools as well as five citywide schools that are solely for children with the highest scores on the admissions test. Under the city’s traditional approach, seats were so limited that most students who qualified for gifted classes based on their test scores didn’t get admitted. The biggest flashpoint - and question mark - is over the idea of expanding the city’s gifted programs. Typically, about 15,000 out of 65,000 rising kindergarteners have vied for just 2,500 seats in gifted programs across New York City. ![]() But I will tell you - I’m not a big fan of testing 4-year-olds.”Ĭarolyne Quintana, the deputy chancellor for teaching and learning appointed by Banks, said at the town hall meeting that the city’s approach will be “some redesign in some of our current schools, and some new opportunities as well.” She pointed to the need for more teacher training and curriculum. We’re not going to eliminate the G&T at the kindergarten level. “We’re looking to expand on a G&T model in the third grade. There’ll be some changes,” Banks said at a recent town hall with parents in Manhattan’s District 3. Many critics blame the test as a main driver for segregation in gifted classrooms. It could continue in kindergarten, which makes New York City an outlier - many other districts don’t start gifted programming until later grades - but with other opportunities to enter the program in third grade.īanks has also suggested the previous approach of using a single test given to preschoolers to determine admissions is unlikely to stick. In public appearances and town halls, Banks has dropped breadcrumbs about how he may reshape the program. But attempts to reform the program have often been met with backlash, including from Asian-American families whose children make up a majority of enrollment in the classes, and who worry that any changes will shut their children out of high-performing schools. The city has long grappled with the program’s vast underrepresentation of its Black and Latino students: They fill only 14% of gifted seats, but make up nearly 60% of kindergartners citywide. ![]() Advocates who had hoped to see significant reforms feel like they are starting all over again. The new mayor and chancellor have indicated that dramatic changes are off the table.įamilies, meanwhile, remain in limbo on how their children will be admitted to gifted programs next year. Very few games have you playing as an animal, especially one on four legs, so Okami is a breath of fresh air. It may seem small in scale at first, but once it opens up a bit, it’s a massive game that’ll take most players anywhere between thirty and forty hours to complete. ![]() The world is also massive, creating a sense of awe and exploration that’ll have you adventuring through many different terrains, dungeons and towns. It ensures gamers will not become bored, offering new and easy to understand mechanics all the way through the campaign. While it’s a slow burn, after you get past the hurdle that’s the beginning of the game, the pacing is surprisingly well done. It would have been nice to have an option to skip a number of scenes in the game as, even if it’s beautiful to look at, it can drag at times. The opening may turn a lot of people off only because it’s a ten to twenty minute long cutscene that cannot be skipped or progressed any faster than it’s set to. I’m aware it’s difficult to go back and change the code, but the biggest downfall to Okami is the inability to skip or quicken conversations. Unfortunately, while the game has aged well overall, there are some spots that have not. It’s a fun formula that works well, and it progresses more as the story pushes forward, with relatively difficult boss fights and ugly new monsters. There are a handful of hidden and not particularly well explained abilities that can be bought or found, but it mainly comes down to smacking your opponent around until they put up their guard or become off balance, and then slicing them into tiny bits. There are a number of mechanics that come into play, but for the first half of the game, the square and R1 buttons will become your best friends. I have great respect for what Okami brings in its fiction as it’s very much in its roots a Japanese story.Ĭombat is essential to Okami as Amaterasu will find herself in constant battle with Oni demons and unknown creatures. It also uses a lot of Japanese aesthetics such as calligraphy, traditional clothing and architecture, classical music, and so much more. Slight references from Torii gates at sacred locations to specific characters in The Kojiki come into play and if you know about the religion it gives a sense of enjoyment seeing a new (fake) myth created before your eyes - or at least modified. ![]() What Okami does great is incorporating Japanese Shinto lore and myths into the story that most western players will most likely not pick up on. Using her thick skull and calligraphy abilities, Amaterasu will headbutt and cut her way to save the world once more from an ancient evil. In order to do this, he must team up with a hot tempered bug and traverse the world to blossom all of the dark and tainted areas. Okami is about the goddess of the sun Amaterasu who saved the world from Orochi, an eight-headed demon, and has been resurrected to once again take the creature down. Those who played the game when it hit in 2006 will be right at home. Capcom has decided to bring the prestigious title into the high definition era, ensuring that love for the game doesn’t go forgotten. In addition, and as part of reporting the audit results to top management members for their review and possible decisions, it is also critical that the management receives information of what good is being done in the organization. To the extent that a communication should be in an easily digestible form, and only has value if what the author means is completely and accurately understood as intended by the recipient of the communication, the above may enhance that the all the findings are well understood from the auditees. ![]() In considering how an audit report is perceived from the auditees, we will take into consideration that the auditees are likely to be more eager to attend the presentation of the audit results, which could take a quite long time, if they fill that the audit team is there not only to point the fingers at problems and non-conformities, but also to recognize the right merits and give them visibility within the organization. In fact, an audit team that will treat equally the importance of communicating all types of observations, will be perceived as a committee that makes an objective analysis of the audited processes, observing all the aspects with the same glasses, without focusing more on the problems than on the positive performance and good practices. Furthermore, and obviously this is the aim of this article, we must recognize the same dignity in all types of findings, including positive ones. And, in the event we are not faced with a deviation from a requirement, or at least we don't have evidence of that, opportunity for improvement and observations can be communicated in order to provide a possible improvement in the management system of the audited business unit of the company.Īll of the above gives importance and a well-defined scope to these types of audit results. The non-conformities are at least regulated by standards and great, due attention is paid to them. The literature on negative findings is indeed quite large and well developed. ![]() However, in many cases this is limited to the sandwich method, where the role of positive conclusions is largely related to being pillows to mitigate the impact of negative findings, with the typical sequence: good, bad, good. It is not uncommon to see methods, presentations and attend trainings or courses which actually suggest that you have positive feedback when communicating the audit results. In fact, the auditors should not only mention the problems A, B and C mentioned in the beginning of this article, but also say ‘It has been observed that process Y is very well conducted. An audit report may or may not include them, but a constructively engaged audit team will probably want to include these good observation as well. ![]() In view of the above, the audit may also lead to a number of good conclusions on the assurance and performance of the processes, which in fact represent positive findings. We can therefore say that negative findings are themselves exceptions on the assurance, but great importance should be given to the compliance. The purpose of an internal audit is to conduct an independent assessment of the effectiveness of the quality management system and overall performance of the organization, primarily looking for compliance, rather than looking for non-conformities. ![]() Nobody, either individually or collectively, in a company wants to hear that their processes have deficiencies or non-conformities in place. In fact, while communicating the audit results, along with the conclusions, there will be emotions. Despite the diligence and professionalism with which auditors present themselves, despite the serene and cooperative atmosphere that they may establish, and despite having repeatedly clarified that the audit represents an aid for growth in the perspective of improvement, they will always be victims of the impression they give when the findings are communicated and, even more, of their content. Indeed, this is one of the reasons for which it is understandable why auditors can be viewed with little sympathy. It is quite typical that during an audit process, auditors communicate negative findings to auditees therefore the audit report will probably say: 'It has been observed the process X and, based on information and evidence, problems A, B and C have been found', where A, B and C are the findings. ![]() 12/30/2023 0 Comments Displaylink graphic driver![]() Browser - Google Chrome 10+, Internet Explorer (IE)10.0+, and Firefox 3.6.x, 12.Browser - Google Chrome 10+, Internet Explorer (IE)10.0+, and Firefox 3.6.x, 12.0+.Operating System - Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1, Windows 10.docking station or graphics adapter featuring DisplayLink technology.
